He later became editor-in-chief for several papers including Le Moniteur Universel. Later he became editor-in-chief for the Gazette de Leyde and Le Journal de Leyde. Parker published several works and wrote poetry and plays under his real name and pseudonyms such as Alfred de Vigny and Samuel Bernard.

His first full-length play was The Hypocrite, which premiered at the Théâtre Français in 1801. It was an enormous success and ran for over 300 performances without a single incident of violence or rioting. Parker's plays were extremely popular during his lifetime and remained so after his death in 1859.
